Why does a lot of foam appear in powder coatings?
1. The viscosity of the powder coating is high, the ratio of curing agent and diluent is inappropriate, and the coating thickness is high, resulting in foam;
2. Affected by external environmental factors, the temperature and humidity change greatly, and the water evaporates at high temperature and remains inside the coating, thus forming foam;
3. Addition of chemical additives. Powder coatings contain a large amount of chemical additives such as curing agents. These additives are surfactants and can easily produce foam;
4. The hole filling and sanding work on the surface of the base material was not done well, and the surface was not cleaned in place, resulting in the mixing of air and foam during the coating process of the powder coating.
Faced with the problem of powder coating foaming, we need to eliminate these foams in time, otherwise it will cause a series of problems.
1. The generation of foam will affect the efficiency of powder coating preparation, increase the preparation time and difficulty, and affect the construction efficiency;
2. Excessive foam affects the dispersion of the powder coating, making the powder coating uneven and the surface uneven, causing bulges or depressions after painting;
3. The generation of a large amount of foam affects the performance and quality of the powder coating, affects the appearance of the powder coating surface, reduces the adhesion of the powder coating, and causes the paint body to fall off quickly;
4. Excessive foam will overflow the construction system, which not only affects the construction environment, but also causes a certain amount of waste of powder coatings.
