Two conventional methods of adding silicone defoamer
1. Add before foaming
This method can suppress the production of foam by adding a defoaming agent in advance to the system where foam may occur. For closed containers and devices, defoaming agents can effectively eliminate foam.
2. Continuous dripping addition
When the foaming liquid is either circulating or flowing, the defoaming agent will be consumed along with the circulating flow of the foaming liquid. In this case, the defoaming agent can be used by continuously dripping the defoaming agent. It can effectively eliminate foam. If it is supplemented by a metering pump, it can also effectively control the addition amount to achieve the most economical use of defoaming agents.
Things to note before adding
First, the lotion needs to be stirred thoroughly before use. Because the emulsion is uneven, it will easily produce stratification, which will affect the effectiveness of the defoamer.
Second, try to use thickeners to dilute. Silicone defoamer can be diluted when used, but the stability of the defoamer will drop sharply during dilution, such as stratification. Therefore, it is recommended to use a thickener to dilute when diluting. If it is diluted with water, If it is dilute, please add water to the defoamer and stir slowly, and use it on the same day it is diluted.
Third, prevent frost. Silicone defoamers are sensitive to frost and excessive temperatures and are easily damaged. If frozen defoamer must be carefully defrosted and tested before use.
Fourth, pay attention to the storage of silicone defoamer. Long-term strong oscillation or strong shearing (such as using mechanical pumps, homogenizers, etc.) or stirring will destroy the stability of the defoamer, so pay attention to the storage of silicone defoamer.
