The function and principle of defoaming agent
Speaking of defoamers, many people may feel unfamiliar. From the literal meaning, we can understand it as eliminating foam. There are many types of defoamers at present. They may be used less in daily life, but they are used more in industry. Next, let’s discuss its working principle and how to choose a defoamer.
On-site technical analysis and communication
First of all, defoamers have the functions of defoaming and suppressing foam. When the defoamer is evenly sprinkled in the foam, it contacts the surface of the foam, and its surface tension decreases, resulting in the rupture of the thin layer. If defoamers are divided according to their functions, they can be divided into three types: defoaming, defoaming, and defoaming. First, the defoaming effect is mainly aimed at liquid foam. It mainly absorbs the surface tension of the foam to make the foam thinner and thus cause the foam to rupture; second, the defoaming effect is to destroy the generation of foam, reduce the generation of foam, and effectively prevent the generation of liquid bubbles; third, the defoaming effect invades the bubble from the interface of the bubble, gathers the air of the bubble in the liquid to form a large bubble, which becomes larger due to the buoyancy effect and floats to the surface of the liquid, promoting the defoaming effect.
On-site technical analysis and communication
First, choose a strong permeability, so that the foam can be quickly destroyed and the generation of foam can be suppressed. Currently, the commonly used defoamers are divided into two types: silicone and polyether. Silicone defoamers generally include polydimethylsiloxane, etc., which have the characteristics of fast defoaming speed and good foam suppression at room temperature, but easy to stratify at high temperature, slow defoaming speed, and poor foam suppression. In addition, silicone defoamers also have the characteristics of low surface tension, high activity, small dosage, and low cost. They are widely used in the defoaming process of detergents, papermaking, pulp, electroplating, fertilizers, wastewater treatment, etc., and are the most commonly used defoamers. Polyether defoamers include polyoxypropylene oxyethylene glycerol ether, etc., which have the characteristics of long foam suppression time, good effect, fast defoaming speed, and good thermal stability. If you want to choose the most suitable defoamer, you need to analyze the specific reasons for the generation of foam in the production process. At the same time, factors such as the compatibility, concentration, temperature and viscosity of the foam will also have a direct impact on the selection of the defoamer.
