Defoamer dilution method
In the field of industrial production, defoamers are common. Their performance and function are very prominent. One of their characteristics is that they can inhibit the occurrence of foam. So what are the methods for diluting defoamers? Let’s listen to the detailed introduction of the manufacturer.
一. Dilution method of alkali thickening thickener
1. Weigh the weight of water (deionized water or tap water) according to the proportion to be prepared;
2. Add thickener (1~2% of the total amount of defoamer to be prepared) and stir evenly;
3. Use alkaline water (10% NaOH solution) to adjust the pH value to 8, not more than 9, stir while adding alkaline water, and pay attention to the final pH when the aqueous solution changes from milky white to clear, and control it at the required value of 8. If it is too high, it can be adjusted with glacial acetic acid;
It is necessary to distinguish between the two forms of defoamer products, defoamer emulsion and defoamer concentrate. The emulsion droplets of defoamer emulsion products have been dispersed into an ideal particle size distribution when the product is supplied. It can be added in the grinding material or in the paint mixing process, and it is easy to mix evenly in the paint or ink. For defoamers that do not contain hydrophobic solid particles, they can even be added by stirring in the finished paint. Defoamer Manufacturer The addition method of the defoamer concentrate containing 100% active matter directly affects the effect of the defoamer. The particle size distribution obtained at the addition stage determines its defoaming effect. For this reason, water-based ink defoamer concentrates are usually added to the grinding base. The defoamer is added to the system using high shear force, but too high shear force will weaken the defoaming effect. Excessive dispersion and poor dispersion of the defoamer are not conducive to the performance of the defoamer. When adding the defoamer, a relatively low shear force is used. The initial defoaming effect may be good, but after the storage stage, the effect of the defoamer may be reduced.
二. Dilution method of swelling thickener
1. Weigh the weight of water (deionized water or tap water) according to the proportion to be prepared;
2. Add thickener (1~2% of the total amount of defoamer to be prepared), stir for 30 minutes to make the thickening system uniform (observe that there are no particles in the system);
3. Add the defoamer to the prepared thickening liquid at one time, and stir after adding (the stirring speed should be controlled at about 60 rpm to prevent damage to the defoamer system. If the stirring speed is greater than 60 rpm, the stirring time can be appropriately reduced and intermittent stirring can be used), stir for 5~10 minutes, and observe the uniform state of the system; after completing the above steps, add an appropriate amount of preservatives according to the actual situation (less in winter, more in summer, and there are also differences between the north and the south; different preservatives are added in different amounts, and it is recommended to add a little more for insurance) and stir the system evenly.
The above is the dilution method introduced by the defoaming agent manufacturer. I hope it will be helpful to everyone. If you still need to know related knowledge, you can consult us and we will have professionals to answer your questions.
