WHAT ARE THE MAIN CLASSIFICATIONS OF DEFOAMING AGENTS?
Commonly used defoaming agents can be divided into silicone (resin), surfactants, alkanes and mineral oils according to their ingredients.Let me give you a detailed introduction below.
(1) Silicone (resin) type
This kind of silicone defoamer, also known as emulsion defoamer, uses an emulsifier (surfactant) to emulsify and disperse silicone resin in water, and then adds it to the wastewater. Silica powder is another silicon defoaming agent with good defoaming effect.
(2) Surfactants
This defoaming agent is actually an emulsifier, that is to say, through the dispersion of surfactants, the foam-forming substances can be dispersed in a stable emulsified state to avoid foaming.
(3) Alkanes
Paraffin is a defoaming agent made by emulsifying and dispersing paraffin wax or its derivatives. Its use effect is similar to that of surfactant emulsified defoaming agent.
(4) Mineral oil
Mineral oil is the main defoaming agent ingredient. In order to improve the effect, metal soap, silicone oil, silica gel and other substances are sometimes mixed together. In addition, in order to make the mineral oil easily spread to the surface of the foaming liquid, or to make the metal soap evenly dispersed in the mineral oil, various surfactants can sometimes be added.
